Ilya is originally from Russia and has been dancing Ballroom and Latin since 1992. He received a degree in dance choreography from the Academy of Culture and Arts in Chelyabinsk. During his career, Ilya has participated in local, national, and international events and competitions. He won many awards and titles as both a member and as captain and choreographer of the champion formation team “Impulse.” Ilya moved to the U.S.A. to join Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Princeton’s team of instructors in July 2014 and currently competes with his professional partner Tara.
Tara began dancing at the age of 5 and has over 15 years of training in ballet, as well as jazz, modern, and contemporary. She received most of her training at The Washington School of Ballet in DC, and moved to NJ in 2009 to study at the Princeton Ballet School on scholarship. Tara began her ballroom dancing career in 2010 at Fred Astaire Princeton and has since become the Dance Director and Manager of the studio. She and her dance partner Ilya have been competing together for 2 years and have won many local and national competitions.
Darya Gidaspova was born in St. Petersburg Russia. She began her training with ballet in United States with the International Ballet Theater Academy and later moved back to her home city to study in one of the premier Schools of Classical Ballet in St. Petersburg. She graduated in 2012 and moved back to United States where she found her passion for ballroom dancing. After a long journey of dancing Darya joined the Fred Astaire Princeton Team in 2015. Through out her career she has participated in many ballets, danced with the St. Petersburg Conservatory of Ballet and Opera, competed in numerous ballet competitions and later Fred Astaire and Independent Ballroom Competitions. Darya is very excited to be a part of this year’s Dazzle event!
Involved in the arts since the age of 6, Samantha has been part of champion dance and cheerleading teams and has won awards for choreography. A graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University, she has been a performer and choreographer in community and professional theatre productions. Originally trained in Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Tap, Samantha made the switch into Latin and Ballroom in 2012. Samantha is presently a ballroom dance instructor as well as the Director of the Young Dancers Program at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Princeton.
Born in Oaxaca, Mexico, Juan immersed himself into the performing arts at a very early age. He started break dancing and hip hop at the age of 8. Since moving to the U.S.A. with his family, Juan has continued his extensive training in music and dance. With a strong background in Latin Social Dancing – Salsa, Bachata, and Zouk – he has also learned to excel in Ballroom, Modern, and Latin Jazz. Juan has been a professional instructor at FADS Princeton since January of 2013 and actively performs and competes both professionally and with his students.
